After spending the 2008 season with Longford Town in Ireland, Weiss spent a lot of time trialing with clubs around the world.[1] In June of 2009, Weiss joined Swedish club Djurgårdens IF on trial.[2] Weiss left Sweden though to join Serbian club FK Metalac, but financial difficulties prevented his signing. He returned to Sweden and joined Adolfsberg IK for three months.[3] Weiss left Sweden again to return to Israel. On 7 October 2009, Weiss arrived at Hapoel Beersheba looking to impress manager Guy Azouri.[4][5] Weiss failed to impress during training at Beersheba.[6] After unimpressing in a Toto Cup match for Hapoel Beersheba, Weiss was released from his trial.[7] A month later Weiss arrived at Hapoel Ramat Gan for another unsuccessful trial.[8] During Weiss' time in Israel, he trained with Israeli coach George Borba and acquired Israeli citizenship by virtue of the Law of Return, hoping to latch on with a club in Israel.[9]
When the only offers for Weiss were coming from Liga Leumit clubs, he decided to take a contract offer in Latvia with FK Jelgava.[10] Weiss made his league debut on 18 April, 2010 in a league match against Skonto FC.[11]
